Okay, well, this is Ponies. Submitted for December Draw-Off on good ol Equestria Daily.

There's a lot I want to say about this, and being my first submission on here, I hope it can kind of describe me better than my profile.

First off, this took me a LONG time to do. Three weeks, and pretty much each week about 10+ hours on it. For a piece of fanart, that's some kind of dedication! Having said that, Friendship is Magic is a weirdly inspiring show. I dunno if it's the color relationships or the cuteness of it all (Ronin Warriors drew me in for the former), but it drives me to create. Lord knows why, but I want to make great work based on this show. On reflection, it's the silliest thing ever, but I'm bro enough to get past that and sink so many hours into it.

I had a hard time coming up with something to make. I wanted a submission that equates with Rarity's would-be dress for Twilight (that she blew off) to show the fellow fans, as I have had a spot of trouble getting my work noticed by them in the past and it's had be pretty flustered. I wanted to take something that simply embodies the show and the characters, while giving it a sort of mystical element. The geometric radial symmetry is simply a point of interest for me in my own artwork. I wanted someone to look at the Pinkie Pie panel, and not just go "That's Pinkie," I want them to look at it and go "THAT'S Pinkie!" Whether or not I succeeded is- well- not up to me really.

As for the actual construction of the piece. This was lovingly crafted in Adobe Illustrator for the vector work, which were then treated in Photoshop for the finished product. I was a little afraid I wouldn't get this done before December gets out, and I may re-work it I can get a shot at it.

It's amazing. The giant cake behind Pinkie and the Sonic Rainboom stretching away from Dash are my favorite backgrounds. This is one of the finest pieces I've ever seen that demonstrates the connection shared by most of the show's characters.

One glaring problem: Spike is nowhere to be seen, so it fails to acknowledge his importance to the show its characters. If you ever decide to correct that flaw, I think it would be appropriate to show some green flame licking at all the Elements and the sun. Perhaps the purple ring behind Twilight's element could frame his eye. You're the artist, though.

Wow, I didn't think I'd ever hear back from you! I still LOVE this picture, I think it would make the most amazing quilt/tapestry. Unfortunately I am very busy right now, but I am sure one day I will make this. I will be sure to let you know when I do.
